Method

I am a traditional, hand drawn portrait artist. I work with very high quality materials, including Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, and Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper. The quality of the materials, along with my skills and dedication to capturing the portrait perfectly, result in a beautiful piece of art which will last you a lifetime. A single portrait can take many hours for me to complete. During that time, I am dedicated to your portrait 100% and will not be working on any other projects. I will consult you and update you throughout the process, sharing work in progress photos and seeking any feedback you may have.

I work from photos, and the better the quality of the photos you can provide me, the better the resulting portrait will be. I am aware, however, that is not always easy to take the "perfect" photo, or indeed you may wish me to draw an in-memorium portrait of a cherished pet who is no longer with us. I always take the time to research my subject, and I am very happy to have multiple reference photos to work from so that I capture them as you remember them.

This presentation of how my portrait of Ruby developed shows the various stages of work I go through to complete a project. I hope you find it helpful!
